                                  Dear Friends,
With the increased public awareness that animals can be effectively incorporated into traditional treatment modalities, and a burgeoning interest in people wanting to visit schools, nursing homes and hospitals with their pets, there is a greater urgency to ensure that high standards and safe, humane practices that protect these therapy animals are reinforced. There is tremendous potential for animals to help people, but with that comes tremendous responsibility to continually improve how animal-assisted interaction is delivered.

Since 2001, Denver Pet Partners® has been committed to developing solutions that ensure ethical standards are practiced and we are dedicated to maintaining the credibility of the field by operating with the utmost integrity, delivering nothing less than excellent service that takes into consideration the client, the animal handler and, perhaps most importantly, the animal. We want to ensure that therapy teams are well-prepared to confidently deliver service safely and effectively with attention to mitigating risk. We also want to ensure that the animal has the necessary skills and aptitude for doing therapy work and that they truly enjoy it.

To this end, we conduct handler training courses and evaluations for handler-animal teams based on Pet Partners® (formerly Delta Society) Standards of Practice and teach continuing education courses to healthcare professionals on how to incorporate animal-assisted therapy to help achieve treatment goals. We routinely consult with our clients to gain their perspective on how we can best partner with them.

Denver Pet Partners is also committed to strengthening the community through partnering with other non-profit organizations and is a professional member of the Colorado Non-Profit Association, which leads the non-profit sector in influencing public policy and public opinion.  Denver Pet Partners is a registered Colorado non-profit corporation.

Therapy animal teams represent the future of how animal-assisted programs will be delivered and we are thrilled to give people the opportunity to pursue this work with their pet, work that will make a critical difference for people and their health.

With your continued support, we hope to increase funding for our programs so we may reach more people and enable us to conduct research into the efficacy of our work so that what we learn can be shared with others. Together we’ll change lives and ensure even better ways to prepare, deliver and manage how animals partner with people. Thank you for joining us on this challenging and rewarding path.

                                  Together we achieve...

                                  Diana
